    This is one of the best directed and produced videos on any subject I've seen on RUclips. That said, one question comes to mind: Does each Cat Shield come with a unique security bit? If all the security bits are the same, why wouldn't the thieves just get one?

    • @JeremyY
      @JeremyY 9 дней назад

      Firstly I want to say that this is one of the kindest comments so thank you for taking the time to leave this comment. To answer your question- no, each MillerCAT Cat Shield does not come with a unique security bit. And MillerCAT will only sell the security bit to verified product owners. From what I’ve heard thieves will attempt to cut off the shield before they attempt to remove it with the proper security bit.

    Very good tutorial, a good watch for someone starting out. I built a rain garden last year in the back yard and it's doing it's job and the plants a thriving. Built a smaller RG up front this spring and it's still a "work in progress" LOL. Seeing a "Terra" bag and a brick from the old Hamilton Pressed Brick factory says you must be be in my neck of the woods of Southern Ontario 😀.

    Totally worth it. I fixed my GBA SP back in 2020 that had a cracked screen since 2004. Thing still works in sound, power, and controls, I just cant see what's happening on screen. The only reason I didn't want to fix it at the time was back in the old youtube days, there were only a few tutorials on how to remove the rubber feet on the screen frame that were covering the screws of the top shell. The person on the youtube video basically destroyed his and I did not want that to happen to mine. I built the confidence after 16 years to do it and there are more videos on how to PROPERLY do it without destroying the feet (it was doing it slowly and carefully). I just asked my self, "Do i want a broken screen forever or do i want to fix this issue with a change of it actually working."

    Great video and shows detail for install. New Version of CatShield NO longer needs the rivets or rivet gun or drilling. They include a nut plate now that the screws attach to. Also the lock washers were replaced with locktite. I was watching this video and already drilled the hole and installed the rivets, then was like "what is this other plate for?" hahaha.

    The main flaws to these pedals are, in my opinion: 1) No wheels. Pushing one of these (I have a similar unit made by SnowJoe) through snow of varying wetness / frozenness is MUCH harder than doing the same with a hand shovel; 2) trying to maneuver a heavy head on a single pole is hard. The whole thing feels off-balance, a bit like trying to lift a concrete slab with a pool skimmer.

    Not all two-stage machines are difficult to turn. Some of them have either a trigger steering or differential make it just as easy to steer as a shopping cart. I will admit that Toro does make excellent single stage snow blowers and I have their older gas-powered 518 which is what I use as a backup machine. Your gas blower might have a way of making it easy to steer but it's only going to work if the wheels are not seized to the shaft. You'll also lose drive on one wheel. It's kind og crude but effective. Can be handy in the off-seasonruclips.net/video/rn8aoa0VyCE/видео.htmlsi=kIp8eTYrbABx6vCo

      Glad that you mentioned this- I just replaced an Ariens ST927LE’s differential lock which has this. It does allow for easier steering however the Ariens, like all 2 stage gasoline snowblowers, still has a lot of weight even if it’s self-propelled. Not so easy to maneuver into a small garage space once it is shut off. And using the trigger lock does have a learning curve which would scare off a lot of people who just want to push a snowblower and not worry about triggers.

      You could get a self-propelled snowblower, which most 2-stage snowblowers are. But then you'll have to learn the ins and outs of the self-propelled control mechanism and the weight of a large larger machine. It's a "Choose your battle" scenario.

    Nice job! It's a shame it doesn't throw to the side / 45 degree angle. This would be a pain to use to clear a sidewalk, you would throw the snow ahead of you over and over and end up throwing it on your neighbors sidewalk. Going across the sidewalk, would require you to make A LOT of short passes to throw the snow into the street.

    Jeremy that was an excellent, comprehensive review. Thank you! You and your wife are a great couple! I just bought this snowblower a few days ago and I was very excited about it. I was disappointed in their assembly instructions - called for too much mind reading. I wish I had seen your little video on attaching the chute extension. That would have helped. This morning I had my first real chance. My driveway was easy-peasy, but that end of driveway stuff was a bear. AND - the county snowplow had done an extra good job of doing the street depositing.a MOUNTAIN of clumpy, compressed, icy snow on my sidewalk. I got through it but I was totally exhausted. I am almost 78 years old and I figured, well, I may drop dead of a heart attack, but at least my neighbors will find my body before it starts to rot! Also, when I watched you using the snowblower on your end of driveway stuff, you looked like you were having a hard time as well. I guess the tip of doing a little at a time, letting the snowblower bite into it is a good one. Also on really high parts, pivoting the snowblower up on its wheels to try. to get just the top part first may help. I see from your review I'm not missing something magical. Thanks again.

      @JeremyY 6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for sharing your Toro Power Clear adventure! When it comes to that end of driveway pile my best tip is to start removing immediately after the snowplow piles it up there. As you discovered it doesn’t take very long for that “EOD” pile to start freezing. I was able to power through it in the video because it was night time so the snow didn’t have much of a chance to melt and freeze due to sunlight and also because I went right out there immediately after the snowplow had passed. By the time I finished my end of driveway mess and went to help my neighbour with theirs it had already started to freeze.

      I found this interesting as I wasn’t aware that Kobalt had a Power Shovel. So I looked it up. Kobalt: 5 -Year LIMITED tool warranty, 3-year LIMITED battery warranty. Toro: 3-year FULL tool warranty and 3-year FULL battery warranty I’ve got to say that I prefer a lithium-ion powered appliance or tool to have a full warranty. And I’ve owned Kobalt shop tools which in my experience haven’t had a good track record of quality. Tell me more about your Kobalt Power Shovel- what’s it like to actually use in the snow?

    One problem with rotary tools no one seems to talk about is how dangerous it is if those tiny discs snap. They are not as large as those that fit in a straight grinder and are less durable. Always always wear eye protection

    • @JeremyY
      @JeremyY 7 месяцев назад

      Absolutely agree on this. Eye protection any time you do cutting or grinding or cutting. Heck I wear eye protection even when hitting things with a hammer.

  • @sheezy2526
    @sheezy2526 7 месяцев назад

    So why not the angle or straight grinder instead of this? They also have a speed trigger and can accommodate dremal bits

    • @JeremyY
      @JeremyY 7 месяцев назад

      This is a good question. I work in manufacturing and have used both the Rotary Tool and an angle grinder. The rotary tool is much better for cutting and grinding in much smaller places. The rotary tool also has rotary tool accessories that can be used for woodwork. An angle grinder is much larger and primarily suited for metal work, especially when it involves larger pieces of metal. I wouldn’t dare to use a rotary tool for cutting or machining larger beams of stainless steel but I also wouldn’t use an angle grinder for cutting seized bolts inside of a cramped small engine appliance like a snowblower or the inside of a car engine bay. So really they are just two different tools for different jobs.

    Glad i found this comparison, confirmed my earlier thoughts that Panasonic stabilization is superior against Sony though Sony AF is unbeatable… am using compact both Sony & Pana.. also FF on Sony. But i believe Pana image quality is bit better especially on the noise control. Rx10iv i hardly get sharp image if going lower than 1/200sec on 600mm… But TZ95 & TZ220 able to get sharp image even at 1/5sec on max 720mm & 360mm

      Panasonic (and Canon’s when using their C-series cameras) noise is definitely a “cleaner” noise than Sony’s! And I say this as someone who has owned Sony alpha, Sony FS5, and Canon C100. Other video shooters I worked with agreed, too.

    Thank you for being HONEST. I Am looking for something for my elderly father and i appreciate you saying it's not fit for the elderly. I'll keep looking.

      Does your father have any mobility issues or physical disabilities? Because the Toro Single 60 Volt Power Clear could be a better option for him than the Power Shovel. Much easier to push and pull with pretty easy maintenance. I reviewed the Power Clear- have a look: ruclips.net/video/WxJo2BYFIpw/видео.htmlfeature=shared

    6:12 if you review another one of these power shovels and run into that crusty snow again, you could try chopping it first with a garden hoe or a spade or a shovel and then use the power shovel

      This is a great idea and would also be hopeful for breaking up those awful end of driveway piles that the snowplow leaves behind.

    Hmm, I think I'll stick with my 120V 15A SnowJoe, at least until I get a gas powered 2 stage snow blower. I don't worry about exhaust fumes, smelling like gas and I actually like doing routine maintenance on my equipment. I also like the power that inherently comes with gas and steel as opposed to electric, plastic and rubber. I put skis on the Snowjoe because it's a single stage and I have a gravel driveway. No, I didn't buy it, it was a gift when I mentioned last year that at my age, shoveling snow with a grain scoop was getting really old. Having now had a taste of not shovelling though, I'm hooked and am ready to invest in a gas powered model.

    can that power shovel be used to clear snow piled up around a fire hydrant, like in this video ruclips.net/video/A4S64lP88xA/видео.html

    • @JeremyY

      Yes it can- as long as the pile of snow around the hydrant hasn’t totally frozen into a chunky, layered up mess!

      @@JeremyY do you have a fire hydrant near you that gets piled up in snow? I've seen a lot of public service messages on the TV news talking about clearing snow from fire hydrants but I've never seen anyone using a power shovel to clear it.
